Us multibillionaire Jeff Bezos and his fiancée have decided to donate a large sum of money to Maui's recovery after the devastating wildfires.

Bezos' fiancée Lauren Sanchez announced in an Instagram post, which said the couple had decided to donate $100 million.

"Jeff and I are saddened by what's happening on Maui. We are thinking of the families who have lost so much and the communities they have destroyed," she wrote.

"Jeff and I are creating a fund for Maui and donating $100 million to help Maui get on its feet.
Huge fires have destroyed thousands of homes in Maui, killing at least 80 people. The blaze is considered the most destructive in the country's history.
