Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić confirmed that Serbia has purchased CM-400 supersonic ballistic missiles from China. “We have a significant number of missiles and we will have even more,” Vučić stated in an interview with Radio Television of Serbia.
He added that the Serbian Armed Forces have already successfully integrated Chinese missiles into Russian MiG-29 fighter jets, which are in use by the Serbian military.
His statement comes after a specialized military forum recently published photographs showing several Serbian fighter jets, one of which was armed with a Chinese long-range air-to-surface missile, the CM-400. Vučić stated that their range is 200 to 400 kilometers and that they are missiles with great destructive power.
The news has sparked international reactions, with Croatia's prime minister announcing that he will inform NATO of the potential danger posed by Serbian military forces. Kosovo's defense minister said that Belgrade is openly expressing threatening attitudes towards its neighbors.
The situation has caused concern in the Balkans, as countries in the region carefully monitor further developments and possible military tensions.
