Venezuelan opposition leader wins Nobel Peace Prize, presents medal to President

Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado said she "presented" US President Donald Trump with the Nobel Peace Prize medal during their meeting today.

Machado described the gesture as symbolic, comparing it to a historical episode when the Marquis Lafayette presented Simón Bolívar with a medal with the face of George Washington. According to her, the action represents a recognition of Trump's "unique commitment to freedom" in Venezuela.

Trump has long expressed his desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize, which Machado dedicated to him when he won it last year. However, the Nobel Committee has emphasized that the Peace Prize cannot be transferred.
