Former Olympic swimmer Helen Smart

Former Olympic swimmer Helen Smart, who represented Great Britain at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, has died suddenly at the age of 43.

Smart was found dead inside the house by her 4-year-old daughter, who called her father saying: " Dad, I can't wake up mom ." 

According to  "The Sun", for many years Helen had retired from swimming while working as a teacher. Smart competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics with Great Britain and specialized in the backstroke, winning several medals at the Commonwealth Games.

Doctors say that the cause of death was a heart attack, but Helen did not suffer from heart problems.

Friends and the Games community offered their condolences to the family on Helen's untimely passing, saying she was a dedicated woman.
