Invited to the show Opinion, the Minister of Finance, Delina Ibrahimaj made a strange statement, when asked about the minimum living in Albania.
Ibrahimaj said that an Albanian who earns 130-140 euros per month, is no longer called poor.
Question: How much should a person pay to live?
Minister of Economy and Finance, Delina Ibrahimaj: How much should be the income. We do not have an accurate calculation. We have an average basket calculation. If the question refers to how much an individual should generate in order not to be poor, this figure is at 130-140 euros.
In fact, the living wage in Albania has never been calculated in Albania, as it is seen as a means of pressure on the government. The only institution that has made a calculation for the subsistence minimum is the People's Advocate. According to this institution, an Albanian to cross the survival limit must be paid 55 thousand new lek per month.
Minister Ibrahimaj thinks differently, saying that 130 euros, or approximately 16 thousand lek, are enough not to be poor. The concept of poverty is very broad, but if you look at Albanians as Africans, then even with that salary you can live.
