Butrint's foundation can build bars and restaurants, Culture Ministry

The Butrint Management Foundation, under the agreement signed with the Ministry of Culture, has the right to build bars and restaurants around the archaeological park.

In the Assembly of Albania, the Ministry of Culture has deposited the full agreement with this foundation accompanied by the act of its founding. But among the documents handed over, the business plan is missing.

One of the foundation's founding points is what assigns the object of the event to fulfill its duties. Among the objectives is information and association services, including audio guides, tourist guides, visitor centres with assistance services, including various cultural, social, theatre, cinema and any other entertainment activities.

The foundation can also set up cafes, restaurants, bookstores and retail centres, provide copyright and marketing and advertising revenues. The duration of the operation of this foundation is indefinite.

The foundation's governing bodies are two, the board of directors and the executive director. Members of the Board of Directors are Elva Margariti, Martin Mata, Alexander Sarapuli, Flonja Borici and Richard Hodges.

The division is 3 members are from the Albanian-American Development Fund and two members from the Ministry of Culture. Under the agreement all members of this board are equal and none of them have the right to veto, while decisions are made by majority vote.

At the head of the executive board will be Richard Hodges, a British archaeologist known in Albanian academic circles. One of those you know is academic Apollon Baci. He calls him an anti-Albanian, with whom he has collided at two conferences for the positions he holds.
