The National Regulatory Commission of the Water Regulatory Entity has started the review of four applications made by the water supply and sewage companies in the country regarding the fees for the services they provide.

At the last meeting of this commission during November, four decisions predicted the start of the procedure.

Specifically, it is about the water supply and sewerage company in Fier, that in Lezhe, Durrës and Vlora, which include 12 municipalities and which are the product of the aggregation reform. Referring to the decisions concerning the enterprise in Vlora, the Commission underlines that the main documentation of the application meets the conditions to be considered, starting from the 5-year business plan to the elements of the repayment of the regulatory payment, with the exception of a specific point to which has been postponed.

"With letter No. 2061, dated 08.11.2023 with the subject "Request for extension of the deadline for completion of documentation" The National Water and Sewerage Agency (AKUK) requests the extension of the deadline until 30.11.2023 for the submission of the document of the decision of the municipal council for the company Ujjejellas Kanalizime Vlorë sh. a for the proposed tariffs" is stated in the decision of KKRR

The same point has been requested for the enterprise of Lezhë, for which a deadline has been set until November 30 regarding the delivery of the decisions of the municipal council of Lezhë, Mirditë and Kurbin for the Regional Company Ujësjellës Kanalizime Lezhë sh.a. on the proposed tariffs. For the company of Fier, the examination of the application has been started, but underlining the issue of paying off the regulatory payment.

"The regional water and sewerage company Fier sh.a has not respected act agreement no. 61 prot, date 08.02.2023 with the ERRU "For the repayment of the arrears regulatory payment according to the reorganization in the entity with joint powers and the continuation of the regulatory payment for the regional water supply and sewerage company Fier sh.a" the decision states.

The only one that seems to have fully submitted the requirements was the Durrës enterprise. On its website, ERRU has not published the new applications and fees that have been requested by the water utilities, but with the new reform of their union that has already started for a long time, the chances that they will increase are high.

This is also argued with the need for investments that the network has, while for years many of the enterprises have accumulated debts, especially related to energy.
