Dear citizens,

Yesterday, around five in the afternoon, on an unlit corner of the boulevard, right where protesters were drawing up plans to overthrow the government, and the police arrested the crime coordinator, I saw a shocking scene: a bunch of hard money, mainly five-thousand and ten-thousand-leke banknotes, had surrounded a euro and were beating it mercilessly.

A five-thousand-dollar woman grabbed him by the corner and shouted: "Who are you, coming here and competing with us?!"

The euro, bruised and wrinkled on both sides, tried to explain that he had only come for tourism, but no one listened.

Dollar, who happened to be nearby, quickly walked away, muttering: "Today she, tomorrow me. Why should I bother with the lek?"

The Swiss franc, as always neutral, did not intervene. It stood at a distance, filmed everything with a Swiss camera, and declared that, just in case, it would store the footage in a safe.

The British pound, as usual, kept its distance and adjusted its collar: "It's not our problem. We left the EU."

Meanwhile, a Turkish lira came close to helping the euro, but was trampled underfoot by two two-thousand-euro bills.

I urgently called the Bank of Albania. After seven minutes of waiting music, a recorded voice answered me: “All operators are busy stabilizing the exchange rate. Please wait. If the euro is being violated, press a... I'm still waiting.

I demand immediate action from SPAK, security cameras on every corner where foreign currency circulates, and a parliamentary commission to investigate violence against the euro.

I call on the guys there and the people here to remember the customs and traditions we have. It is not in our tradition to humiliate a friend. We are a proud and Faithful country. The home of the Albanian is the Euro and the Dollar. And when the Euro or whoever comes for tourism, we should not wait for it in Faith!

The scenes of violence against the European currency are a shame that will weigh on our conscience until the day they drag us back to the EU.

With concern

A veteran currency exchange!
