Murder of Gjovalin Lazri in Italy, autopsy reveals whether he was shot while

A bullet in the right shoulder and one in the neck took the life of Gjovalin Lazri, part of the group of thieves who had entered Roberto Mollo's farm in Baldissero d'Alba.

Today, the autopsy will show whether, as investigators suspect, the truck driver shot at him while Gjovalin Lazri and his associates were driving away. Evidence may also emerge from ballistics expertise. Meanwhile, it is certain that Mollo opened fire from the balcony on the first floor and from a distance of at least 30 meters.

Legal battle

The autopsy and the expert report will be the basis of the legal battle that will surely begin on this issue. For this reason, they will be conducted in the presence of the parties' experts, already appointed by Roberto Mollo's defense. Specifically, the forensic doctor Lorenzo Varetto and the expert Ruggero Pettinelli.

The victim's family, on the other hand, have given up on appointing their own experts.

"My son no longer has a father and I am devastated by the pain. The whole truth must come to light, I only ask that justice do its job," declares Gjovalin Lazri's partner, who does not go into the details of the investigation. But she wants to emphasize one thing: "We hear and read a lot of things, but I want to say that there are no good people and bad people. People who deserve to die or others who do good who shoot with guns."

Her words were conveyed through lawyer Roberta Sisimbro. “We have maximum confidence in the work of the Prosecutor’s Office and in the implementation of the law that follows,” the lawyer adds. “We are in a state of law, there is a Constitution and laws that must be respected.”

Criminal precedents

Lazri's partner and son live in Turin, where he manages a bar on the outskirts. She works as a tattoo artist. For several days, both businesses have been closed. The 36-year-old has several criminal records in his past, including for robbery. In 2013, he robbed a villa in the Astigiano area, stealing money and valuables. "But recently he had changed his lifestyle," friends say. It also seems that he was having financial difficulties. Therefore, the possibility cannot be ruled out that, in order to quickly secure some quick money, he had reunited with old friends specializing in theft and robbery.

These are gangs of "travelers", well known to the carabinieri operating in the area. For this reason, investigators believe they will be able to identify them quickly. This is more through traditional investigations than thanks to security camera footage, which in the Baldissero d'Alba area is scarce and outdated.

The gang's objective

But what was the gang's aim? According to the carabinieri, they were interested in the tools and construction materials piled up in the yard, which they would then resell. It is likely that the thieves thought that the village house was uninhabited. They entered the yard, which had no fence, perhaps to conduct a preliminary survey before entering in a van or truck. In fact, there are no tire tracks on the path leading to the farm.

Roberto Mollo's lawyer doesn't think so. According to him, the thieves wanted to enter the house armed with screwdrivers. "This is shown by the fact that they had flashlights and gloves with them," says Pier Mario, "Roberto was sleeping upstairs and feared for his safety."/Corriere
