The murder of father and son by Besnik Pjetri in Lezhë has attracted the attention of the Italian media. Il Resto del Carlino writes that the victims had been living for years in Italy, precisely in the city of Forli. Peter, who was known as Pietro, was a mason, while his son worked in a craft company.
The newspaper states that everything started when Besniku married Pjetri's daughter. There were disagreements between them that led to divorce. Moreover, the perpetrator of the crime was reported for domestic violence and was arrested and sentenced to two years. After serving his two-year sentence, Besnik was deported to Albania.
The newspaper writes that Besnik had sworn that he would take revenge on his ex-wife's family, so much so that Përjaku and his son did not return to their village in Lezhë for fear that something might happen.
It is not yet known why the father and son returned to Albania, writes the newspaper. According to him, it is about a wedding or something similar, a wedding anniversary. It is believed that they went to Lezha on Sunday and the crime happened immediately on Monday. Pjeter and Gentian Përjaku were executed with firearms by their former son-in-law Besnik Pjetri. The incident happened around midnight on Monday near the victims' apartment, where the 45-year-old man was waiting for them to return home.
Father and son had returned on Monday from Italy, where they had been living for many years, after they had a wedding in their hometown, at some relatives. The ex-son-in-law followed the movements of their targets and as soon as they returned to the apartment, he approached and fired a volley of bullets.
