Researcher Auron Tare has raised the alarm about the danger posed to the historic Egnatia Road by the Municipality of Peqni, which surprisingly prides itself on the fact that it is surrounding and "threatening" with asphalt the segment that was used by emperors and sultans over the centuries in their initiatives that writes history.

The mayor of Peqin, Bukurosh Maçi, madly believes that the asphalting of the 2 sides of the historic road is restoration and for the benefit of the further existence of "Via Egnatia".

Researcher Tare calls on Prime Minister Edi Rama to intervene to stop this nonsense of the Peqin Municipality, so that the part of the Egnatia Road that stretches in Albania, one of the 10 most important roads of European civilization, is saved without delay.

Give up, please give your hand to intervene and stop this massacre to the detriment of Cultural Heritage in Albania.

In addition to the fact that they are becoming ridiculous in the eyes of the world, we are also destroying that wealth that we have inherited over the centuries.

Our National Heritage cannot be treated in this way, despite the good will that may be the reason for these such ridiculous and absurd interventions.

The demolition of national heritage institutions and the introduction of NGOs, firms and institutions that do not have capacities is causing irreversible damage to Heritage.

The Via Egnatia is one of the 10 most important roads of European civilization. The road where the Roman legions were trampled on during the Civil War of Caesar and Pompey. The road where the Emperors of every Imperial era are tread from Rome to Constantinople. From where the Fathers of the Church brought the biblical messages from Jerusalem. From where the culture of the Orient arrived in Europe. The road from where the barbarians ruined civilizations but without destroying it. The road of the Crusades that flooded to the East. The road from where the graceful Ottoman Sultans flooded to Christian Europe. Via Egnatia, the European heritage that fate made it pass among us, cannot end up suffocated with the asphalt of ignorance", says the researcher's appeal to the prime minister.
Further, Tare tries to educate the Municipality of Peqin, bringing the example of the places where Egnatia Street passes and how it has been fanatically preserved by these places.

"Look at how our neighbors have taken care of this piece of European heritage. Macedonia and Greece fanatically guard it.

Watch how Italy restores and protects the Via Apian, the symmetry of Egnatia that came from Rome to Brundisium to connect with Egnatia.

Via Egnatia is our Way to Europe. Please give up before Europe looks at us with contempt for what we are doing to its Heritage", concludes Tare.
