Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has granted Greek citizenship to Albanian Levian Goga, who risked his life to save two children from the Arahthos River in June 2025.

"Protothema" writes that the Albanian took the oath as a Greek citizen before Mitsotakis, Interior Minister Theodoros Livanios and the Secretary General for Citizenship Affairs, Dimitris Karnavos.

This act of respect came after Lendiani intervened without hesitation to save two children who were in danger of drowning in the river's current, risking himself for the two minors.

Mitsotakis called Goga an example of humanity and heroism, noting that he even risked his own life to help the children.

"Thank you for what you did. You deserve this honor and more," Prime Minister Mitsotakis said immediately after the oath.

Levian Goga was also the guest of honor at the reception for the anniversary of the restoration of democracy in Greece, organized in July by the Speaker of Parliament, Kostas Tasoulas.

The serious incident occurred in June of this year. Ledian Goga pulled two children, ages 12 and 14, from the Arachthos River in Arta, Greece, sustaining injuries himself.

Unfortunately, the two minors did not survive and later died in hospital, as their parents decided to donate their organs.
