Albania-Italy pension agreement, the Italian ambassador meets the protesters in Tirana

Albanian pensioners living in Italy have protested today in front of the Italian embassy in Tirana for slowing down the procedures for recognizing pensions. They have requested mutual recognition of pensions between the two countries.

The protesters also met with the Italian ambassador in Tirana, Fabrizio Bucci, who assured the pensioners that everything will be resolved very soon.

He stated that the Italian government has the full will to reach this agreement.

"I have to assure you that the Italian side is doing its best to solve this problem. We talked to reach an agreement with the Albanian side. We are now in the final moments of agreement, a few things are missing. The signing of the Italian-Albanian agreement will take place in the next few weeks or at most in the next month. It was a bit difficult because there were some technicalities about the procedure. You have my word, that the Italian side is doing its best. Be patient", the ambassador addressed the protesters.

While the protesters said that they live in difficult conditions.

"We live on 15,000 ALL and we live in difficult conditions. I have been in Italy for 32 years and there I have noticed humanity for everyone. The question I ask myself is Melon what is it? One signature is enough and it's over," said a pensioner.

"I have been working in Italy for 30 years and I have made an important contribution to that country. It's up to me, I have to climb the stairs to make a living. I want the Albanian and Italian contributions thrown at me, I want my dignity and my sweat", said another protester.

"We want the sweat, the work. Be sure that we will take our voice to the Italian parliament. Do I have the right to vote in Italy but not in Albania? Yes, it's a shame! We want sweat, we are here only for the pensions", said another protester.

Albania has agreements on pensions with several countries, but not yet with Italy. The agreement on pensions means that citizens who live and work in another country, and that before fleeing to this country had contributions to Albania as well, these contributions are collected making it possible to receive a pension in both countries.
