Chronicle journalist Artan Hoxha has revealed details about the arrest of the candidate of the "Together We Win" opposition coalition in Himarë, Fredi Beleri.
In an interview on News 24, Hoxha said that during Beler's arrest, 2 cell phones were seized from him and that one of the reasons why he was visited by Greek diplomats in his cell was precisely his phones.
According to Hoxha, if these devices are controlled, we will have an issue related to national security, while he described their contents as "treasures". Thus, he showed what will happen with Beler's mandate as mayor of Himara, saying that he has not taken the oath and it may happen that the Council of Ministers will ask for new elections in this municipality.
"He was caught red-handed. Freddy Beler's 2 cell phones were seized and one of the reasons why the Greek diplomats contacted him in his cell are his phones. If Beller's phones are opened, we will have a national security issue. It has nothing to do with Beler as a citizen but with the character because he represents anti-Albanian interests. This comes with the symbol of an issue that seeks to tear the country apart.
Beleri has been under surveillance and efforts have been made to capture him. The Greek services in support of Beleri have also been in the campaign. It was bought there with 50,000 Lek votes and 300,000 from the realtor. There is evidence that he was caught. This is documented. If Beler's cell phones are opened there are treasures.
Today Beleri did not get the mandate, he just won the elections. A similar case was in Shkodër where the SP candidate won and was defeated and did not take the oath. If Beleri does not take the oath, the Council of Ministers removes his mandate and calls for new elections in Himara. The same thing happened to Lefter Alla a month ago. It has happened several times, but the investigation must go to the end. The Greek side is interested in Beler's cell phones not being opened", he said.
