The former mayor of Kukës, Safet Gjici, spent the first night in the security block on "Mine Peza" street, after being arrested by SPAK after publishing an intimate video.

It is known that Gjici did not have any health problems and was calm during his stay in the cell.

Gjici met for about an hour with his lawyer, Parparim Kulluri, for the defense strategy. On Monday, he is expected to face the court for the verification of the security measure.

The legal representatives of Safet Gjici say that the charge filed by the Special Prosecutor's Office does not stand and that the decision taken in absentia will be appealed. On Monday, the measure is expected to be communicated to the citizen Alma Kaçi, whom the court left under "house arrest".

Investigations into Safet Gjicin started a few days ago after the publication on social networks of a video with erotic content, where the former mayor had intimate relations with the citizen, Alma Kaçi.

After the sexual act, they discuss in the office a project that would be financed by the Municipality for the isolation of stray dogs in Kukës. Immediately after, Gjici calls one of his subordinates to the office to deal with the documentation that the citizen, Alma Kaçi, will submit.

All these actions performed in the span of a few minutes, according to SPAK, have raised suspicions that the former mayor and the woman in the video have committed the criminal offense of corruption.

According to sources from the investigation group, other persons who may be related to this story are being verified. They are also conducting investigations into the claims of the former mayor of Kukes for blackmail.
