Alfred Muharremi, a member of the Tirana Municipal Council, on "Off the Record" on A2 CNN , recounted how his mother abandoned him due to a misunderstanding and also recounted his first meeting with his father.

"The incident was like this. My father was forced to get an American visa and to get an American visa, normally since he was not a consul, the nearest American embassy was in Greece and my father was forced to leave for Greece and get an American visa and to enter the American state and this was a six-month transitional period. During the relationship he had with my mother, they were not married, but it was a love story. During the time he moved, there was no means of communication. He told her that I was leaving, but I would return. But, he did not specify the time and by not specifying the time, my mother thought that my father was abandoning her and my mother started a story with another person and then thinking that my father had abandoned me, I thought that he would abandon me because of the opinion he might have in the family," said Muharremi.

The socialist official also remembers his first meeting with his father.

"My father comes with two brothers, my two uncles. I didn't know where he was coming from. There was a moment that was significant for me, because we did the DNA test back then, but it marked the process that I said: "Yes, this is my father". Because Arvi, my son, instinctively went towards my father. When we met, it was a very, very touching moment. Then, for a month, we could have met endless people. It also seemed to me like that period of the electoral campaign where I am forced to meet people. That was the campaign. It was one of the periods that took up the most time for me with meeting people and sometimes I didn't know how to approach. But, I was very well received by my father", declared Muharremi.

Alfred Muharremi has confessed to being physically and psychologically abused.

"Tirana has been a horror. If I have suffered the most difficult period, despite being part of both verbal and physical abuse and discrimination in society mainly, the period of adolescence, when I was even outside the doors of the SOS village, when I had to face my life independently, has been my most brutal confrontation with everyone, mainly with institutions. At that time, we had a disregard on the part of the institutions of the Republic of Albania regarding the provision of a service that you needed", said Muharremi.

"At that time, we only received a salary of 3,000 lek and were forced to attend school and were forced to work. For example, in my case, I worked until 1:00 am as a waiter. After graduating from high school, I would show up for work immediately at 3:00 am, and I would finish at 1:00 pm. I couldn't even afford my own comforts, to have two pairs of jeans a year, but we only had one pair of jeans a year and one pair of sneakers," added Muharremi.

But, according to him, "the lessons that pain gives you are not taught by anyone else."

"They have become a force, they have become a model, and I try to show this society with my life model that we are not victims of society. So, we are people who deserve to be on equal terms in every environment, in the community where we live," emphasized Muharremi.
