Today Albania celebrates the 113th anniversary of Independence. Albanians from all regions honor this day as one of the most important moments in the country's history. Festive activities are taking place in all cities, centered in Vlora, where Ismail Qemali raised the red and black flag on November 28, 1912.
The independence of Albania was declared on November 28, 1912 by Ismail Qemali in Vlorë. The Assembly of Vlorë was attended by 83 delegates from all Albanian territories, and 40 of them signed the Act of Independence. Immediately after it, the Assembly formed the first independent government, headed by Ismail Qemali, as well as the Council of the Wise, also known as the Eldership.
With the decision of the Vlora Assembly, the Albanian nation gained its undeniable right to be free and independent, alongside other nations and peoples of Europe.
