The farmer from the village of Ferras i Divjaka says that this year he planted more wheat.

"The wheat area this year is 80 hectares, or 10% more than last year," said the farmer.

The war in Ukraine increased production costs and the value of domestic wheat. It was the price of wheat in 2022 of 50 lek per kilogram that expanded the grain area throughout the country. But this time, farmers are afraid of the price drop, despite the fact that the land was worked with expensive oil and chemical fertilizers.

"The price of wheat must have a balance with the price of fertilizers and pesticides and fuel. At least it should be 450 thousand lek per ton, or 45 thousand old lek per quintal", said Franc Kaloshi.

Although France has been the beneficiary of free oil, it has not been enough for the entire area.

"I have planted 80 hectares of wheat and the amount of oil that I am supposed to get is about 60-70 liters/ha, I have the limit of application only for 10 ha and it falls to me to get 600-700 liters of oil, for the rest I am disqualified ", he said.

The large amount of wheat puts the farmers in front of two difficulties, the price and the storage of the production. If these two problems are not fixed by the Ministry of Agriculture, then the farmers will decide to give up this agricultural product again.

"It would be very advantageous if the collection points collected the wheat. That is why the state's reserves were ahead, as they gave some stability to the situation, which made it possible for the production to go to the designated place", he said.

Domestic production is also threatened by imported wheat, which comes to our country at a competitive price. Faced with this situation, the flour factories will fill the warehouses with the wheat of the Serbian farmer instead of the wheat produced by our farmer./TCH
