He left behind two children/ The mystery that covered the death of Jani Rustemi!

The case of Jani Rustemi, the young man who closed his eyes today, when more than a month has passed since his arrest, was made public by the media. It was his mother who had the courage to make the complaint on the 'uniko' show, showing that her son, 28 years old and father of two children, was in a very good condition before he was arrested by the police.

Rustemi was wanted after he was accused of stealing a carpet and a pair of sneakers, and the officers put him in handcuffs on April 13. But, only a day later, the 28-year-old who was in the detention cells at '302' on 'Mine Peza' street in Tirana, felt bad. He showed health problems, but despite his condition, Rustemi appeared before the court and the security measure of 'prison arrest' was imposed on him.

Meanwhile, the police had not made any reaction! On the 17th, Rustem's condition worsened again and he was hospitalized. Three days later, his mother filed a complaint and alleged that her son had been ill-treated by police officers. The authorities remained silent, not issuing any routine announcement about the case in question, until the moment when Rustem's mother, with the video of her son vomiting in the hospital bed, addressed the media.

She publicly denounced the rat on the show "Uniko", where she confessed that Jani had been in a very good state of health a day after the officers handcuffed him. As proof, Pranvera Rustemi also had a video posted on Instagram, only on April 12. There Jani was seen laughing and cuddling with the dog they had at home. Jani Rustemi's mother said that the police did not give her any information about her son's state of health. She emphasized that the boy does not suffer from any disease and they don't even let him enter the hospital to stay close to him.

"I am a mother of 5 orphans. I have a problem with my son, Jani Rustemi. They arrested him for theft, he had arrested a carpet and a pair of sneakers. The police came to my dinner together with the boy, I went out, I had my son in the police van. I spoke, the boy was fine that day. Then, after 4 days, he called me and told me to bring my passport because they don't register me here. Here is my son's passport. I have not managed to take it to him. I didn't make it, I didn't have any money, I said when I get money I will go and make an appointment for the boy. Then the police called me. Go, they told me that your son is sick. I went to the police jail. I went, I asked at the prison hospital. I didn't find it there, it wasn't laid out. Then after a few days the police came to me, two civilians here at home. Go to such and such a place, they told me. You are sick, with a little cold. We went to the hospital. I went to Mother Teresa, she was in intensive care, it was very bad. The doctor told me there is no hope for your son. I found the boy in the hospital, in this condition. (shows the video) Even this I barely got because the police wouldn't let me, I got it secretly. Here he is in resuscitation and the doctor said we have no hope, only in God's hands you have your son. The doctor just said they gave him too much Methadone. I knew it was falling, but it was for beauty," Jani's mother confessed with tears in her eyes.

What happened to Jan? Was he given methadone? Under what conditions? Did he undergo a preliminary analysis for narcotics? Was Rustemi a drug user, and if so, what kind and how should he be kept under control? Is anyone responsible for the death of a young man who left two children behind?

The Albanian Helsinki Committee (KShH) has also reacted to the treatment of Rustem. In the official response, KShH wrote that the institutions committed a series of violations, that double standards were used by not admitting him to prison 313 but keeping him for 5 days in the police rooms. This thing, according to the KShH, has damaged the young man's health. AHC also mentions the fact that Rustemi is part of the Roma community, which has caused the authorities not to prioritize his situation.

But the institutions are still silent...
