Arrested for stealing a carpet, the 27-year-old dies in the hospital 
Jani Rustemi

27-year-old Jani Rustemi passed away at QSUT. He was in a coma after being arrested by the forces of Police Station No. 2.

Rustemi suffered cardiac arrest and passed away around 4:00 p.m. today.

The young man was arrested on April 12, 2023 for stealing a rug and a pair of sneakers. But 5 days later, on April 17, Jani Rustemi was sent to the QSUT Emergency in a serious condition.

The young man's mother, Pranvera Rustemi, denounced the case to the media, saying that the police did not give her any information. She said the boy was not suffering from any disease.

According to the police, on April 14, while he was arrested at the Tirana Police Department, Rustemi showed health concerns. On the same day, according to the police, he was given the necessary medical assistance and his condition improved.

Jani Rustemi is suspected to have been given methadone, which caused him to fall into a coma.
