Alketa Kurti and  Arben Kurti are the two children of the 72-year-old Albanian Shefki Kurti , whose body was found dismembered and hidden in four black bags, thrown into the Adigetto river in the province of Rovigo.

Alekta lives in Switzerland, while Arbeni lives a few meters away from her parents in Badia Polesine municipality. He is a well-known DJ in the surrounding area and the owner of the discotheque "Babylon" located next to his parents' apartment.

He confessed to the Italian media that his father Shefki Kurti left the apartment on July 22, 2022 after a small quarrel with his mother, that is, with his co-wife.

He clarified that the information that they did not report their father's disappearance is not true. On July 24, 2022, i.e. two days after Shefki left the apartment, Arbeni, the son, informed the police that his father had left the apartment after a fight with his mother, writes Ora.

The story of the Kurti family is similar to thousands of other Albanian families who have immigrated to Italy. At the beginning of the 90s, Shefkiu, who was about 40 years old and the father of two small children, worked as a bricklayer, arrived from Durrës in Italy.

They first lived in the municipality of Salvaterra and then bought the apartment in Badia Polesine. " No one wanted harm to the father, not even us ," are Arbeni's words to the local Italian media, adding that "he believes in justice and in finding the perpetrators of this crime."

The Rovigo prosecutor's office is investigating intentional murder, dismemberment and hiding the body. Shefki Kurti has left without even taking his cell phone with him, from which no details that could help the investigation have been revealed at the moment.

According to the neighbor's confession, his black Citroen vehicle was not seen for several days after Shefik's departure, but the police authorities found it parked a few meters near the apartment.

Asnjë familjarë i Shefki Kurtit nuk ka precedent penal apo probleme me drejtësinë. Për momentin autoritetet kanë vënë në sekeustrimin apartamentin ku jetonte cifti i të moshuarve e ngjarja vazhdon të mbetet një mister.

Kush e vrau dhe e copëtoi në mënyrë kaq makabre Shefki Kurtin, 72 vjeçarin emigrant shqiptar nga Durrësi, baba e bashkëshort që tërë jetën punoi e sakrifikoi për familjen e tij?

Lindur më 7 gusht 1950 në Durrës, i martuar, me dy fëmijë, me profesionin murator e  pensionist, Shefki Kurti jetonte prej disa vitesh në Itali, në komunën Badia Polesine në provincën e Rovigos. U deshën 5 ditë për identifikimin e emrit të shqiptarit pas gjetjes së pjesëve të trupit të tij të gjymtuara, të mbyllura në thasë mbetjesh urbane e të hedhura në lumë. 

On the morning of July 28, the personnel dealing with the reclamation of Adigeto, found the left leg in the river channel and a few hours later on the same day, closed in four black bags, the body, head and arms were found. On July 31, the right leg was found and only a few hours ago it was possible to confirm the identity of the mutilated body.

The first investigations of the coroner revealed that the body of the Albanian Shefki Kurti had been in the water for almost a week. Authorities hope the autopsy will reveal the cause of his death before the body was mutilated and dumped in the river.
