Shefki Kurti is the 72-year-old man of Albanian origin who was found dismembered on July 28. First a leg and then other parts of the old man's body were found near the Adigetto River. After finding the dismembered body divided into 4 black plastic bags, the carabinieri went to check his house to find clues related to his murder.
At the moment, there are no suspects, while the last people who have seen him are Kurti's wife and family. Suspicions fall on them as they have not declared anything to the investigators, Italian media write.
Some workers who were cleaning the canal found Shefki Kurti's leg next to the debris taken from the river. That same day, during the afternoon, they found the body, head and two arms in 4 bags.
Kurt's family had not seen him since Sunday, July 24, the day he left home after an argument with his wife. On July 24, Shefki's son called the carabinieri to tell them that his father had left the house.
But at that moment it seemed like a denunciation like all the other times until they found the dismembered body. The discovery of the man in pieces has opened a new line of inquiry.
Shefki Kurti and his wife Nadire arrived in Italy in the 90s, they were among the first Albanians to arrive in the neighboring country. Initially they had gone to live in Villanova del Ghebbo, Shefkiu had started work immediately. The couple then moved to Badia Polesine, in a dignified renovated apartment.
Both had two children, Alketa, who lives in Switzerland, and Arbeni, who lives in Masi. The latter works as a DJ in local discotheques, has two children. No family member has ever been in trouble with the law. Shefki lived a quiet, reserved life, he was a man without conflicts. Carabinieri investigations continue.
