Three days before the tragic event that took the life of 7-year-old Jonada Avdia, the State Police published a video. Distributed on social networks and by the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, the controls of the Border Police in Vlora continue along the entire coastline, while also demanding the denunciation of citizens.
But, unlike the distribution on social networks, what happened on the beach showed that the reality is not that of the videos that are edited in the offices of the State Police and given to the media. This is because there is really no need for denunciations for a situation, which every summer season has turned into successive tragedies.
In Albania, over 7,000 small watercraft such as speedboats, jet skis or dinghies have permission to travel in the sea, and in a few cases of entertainment, they have ended in fatal events.
In 2016, a Russian tourist was hit by the propellers of a boat, while his dead body was found 50 meters from the seashore, in Himare.
A 33-year-old man died in 2019 in Gjirin e Lalëzi, after falling from the water motor and drowning, while a year later in August, 17-year-old Enisa Doda died under mysterious circumstances, after falling from the water motor that led by her companion.
The police videos for controls, fines and seizures continue for this season as well, but in Jalë, on July 16, a boat ended up in deckchairs, leaving a couple of vacationers injured, while three days later, on July 19, a child was hit by a water motor./ A2
