Four days after the stabbing of 21-year-old Portuguese Luis Mendes, the Saranda police have found the murder weapon. In addition to tracking through security cameras to see the movements of the suspected perpetrator, SV, investigators have also taken statements from AZ
The latter turns out to be the person who picked up SV in the car to take him to the hospital, after seeing him in bloody clothes.
The knife with which the 21-year-old Portuguese man was allegedly shot 7 times was found in some bushes on a secondary road.
During his statements to investigators, AZ explained all the movements he made and how far he accompanied the suspected perpetrator of the incident.
"AZ took the car and SV got out of the upper part of the bar, who got into the back of the car and immediately headed towards the Ksamil health center.
On the way, SV told him: "Just go straight" and after two or three minutes, when they reached a cobblestone street, he told him: "Stop here" and ran away barefoot. A few meters away from the car, AZ noticed that SV threw something with force.
SV, in his statements, emphasized that he asked a Turkish citizen named Mahmut, whom he had met on the beach, to take him to Tirana because he did not know what would happen next.
He had gotten into the trunk of the car, according to him, with the argument that he wanted to sleep. SV has denied being the person who stabbed the 21-year-old.
Meanwhile, the Turkish citizen, who was arrested for supporting the perpetrator of the crime after being caught together with NM, bringing the suspected perpetrator SV to Tirana, has denied any knowledge of the incident.
"I met the Turkish citizen NM, when he came on vacation to Albania, through his Instagram address, as this citizen rents cars.
I was not aware that we had SV in the car. On the way, when we were going to Tirana, someone called NM, just before we went to the place where the police caught us, and said, 'Look, there are police ahead.' There, NM showed me that SV was in the trunk."
Meanwhile, the police are still searching for D.Gj., whom they accuse of being an accomplice in the murder, according to what appears in the security camera footage.
The owner of the bar, BB, is also wanted. Earlier, the court ordered the arrest of 6 people and released 5 others.
