According to the above, the People's Advocate has recommended legal changes to the Family Code and the Criminal Code to remove all legal exceptions that allow marriages under 18 years of age or the abuse of minors.
While considering the event alarming for the rights of minors, the People's Advocate has highlighted the importance of harmonizing local legislation with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. The concrete recommendations of the Ombudsman to improve the protection of children will be integrated into the changes of the Criminal Code, especially in the section "Sexual crimes with minors".
The Ministry of Justice has evaluated these recommendations in taking concrete steps to improve the legislation, to guarantee that the minimum age for marriage is 18 years.
The People's Advocate recalls the obligation of the state and institutions to guarantee a safe environment and to educate children about their rights. The Ombudsman conveys a strong appeal for the objective investigation of the case and the punishment of the possible perpetrator.

A moderate approach of all actors is more useful to find solutions, without increasing the tension, but having in the center of attention the rights and safety of children would contribute to finding sustainable solutions.
Also, the People's Advocate appreciates the need to launch a wide awareness campaign in society to prevent such disturbing cases and to protect the rights of children in the country.
