Prime Minister Edi Rama is holding a meeting with Tirana's elected deputies in the May 11 elections and the leaders of the capital's Municipality structures, where the focus was on addressing the problems in the territory and launching a new phase of urban transformation.
Prime Minister Edi Rama has warned of strong measures against abuses in the construction industry. He described the toleration of construction for profit in violation of the law as a "big fraud", announcing the creation of a "blacklist" of problematic builders who violate citizens' rights and the law.
The Prime Minister called for urgent solutions to the problems before the new legal act enters into force, warning of serious consequences for violators.
Edi Rama: We are discussing the great fraud, to which eyes have been closed for a long time in many parts of the territory. We are not talking about the apartments that were built to put their heads in, but about those that were built for profit purposes.
The creation of a blacklist of investors who abuse and violate the law will be approved by law. Anyone who enters this list will lose the right to obtain a construction permit and will be penalized if involved in the construction industry.
Measures will be taken against a category of very problematic builders, such as the fraudsters in the area where we were together with the Minister of Justice, who did not let residents enter the building, or, unfortunately, others like those who leave the buyers of their apartments on the street, without mortgage documents.
The measures will be drastic and I urge them to hurry up and solve this problem before the act is issued, because they will face serious consequences and will have a very difficult time. We are interested in solving the problem.
