A man named Petro in Athens, who says he can't remember anything, may have finally found his biological family.
Known as Petros Koutsoukis, he attracted the attention of the Greek media after declaring that he had lost his memory and could not remember who he was or where he came from.
At first they asked him as if he were a Greek citizen, but then, some witnesses who had worked with him, gave information that he was an Albanian, who left for Greece 20 years ago.
An elderly Albanian woman, who is believed to be his mother, arrived in Athens today. She will provide a DNA sample to the Greek authorities to verify that he is indeed her son.
In the moving images published by the Greek media, the Albanian woman can be seen kissing and hugging what she says is her son, whom she "recognized immediately".
According to his testimony, Petro suffers from autobiographical amnesia and therefore does not remember anything from his childhood, except for a few flashes.
The woman who was accompanied by the other boy, says that she is 100% sure that Petro is her son.
However, no matter how touched he feels, Petro still... remembers nothing, not even the faces of his mother and possible brother. However, he has the courage to accept them as relatives, until genetics "speaks".
"I am a mother of four children. We live in Këlcyra, Albania. In 1990 Petriti left Albania with others and came to Greece. We kept in touch until 1995 and he sent me letters, telling me that he lives and works in Kalamata, Messinia. From 1995 to 2001 he stopped communicating, but I heard about him from a fellow villager who lived in Ekali.
When the other boy came to Greece, he called him "Petrit" but he replied that he is not Petriti and that he does not know us. A few days ago we saw him on TV looking for his family. I knew immediately that it was my son. It hadn't changed since then. I had never reported my son missing," she told Greek authorities.
