IGJEUM seismologist Edmond Dushi says that the strong earthquake in Bonje-Herzegovina, which was also felt in our country, was the main shock.
According to him, the earthquake was felt in all Balkan countries.
"It has affected the border countries with Bosnia, Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, but it has been felt almost in the whole part of the Balkans, in the northern and northwestern part. "Pre-magnitude 6 on the Richter scale and we are still waiting for a final version of the magnitude, but it is clear that it is a shallow earthquake and consequently has caused a considerable sensitivity," he told Klan News.
According to seismologist Edmond Dushi, other aftershocks are expected but at lower magnitudes that can only be felt in areas near the epicenter.
"This is the main blow, we are waiting for it is the preliminary version given by the IGJEUM system. Meanwhile we are waiting for the final version of the estimation of its magnitude and epicenter, but it is the main shock and it is felt quite long due to the presence of the surface wave indicating that it is a shallow hearth.
This seems to be the main shock, then all aftershocks are expected to have a lower magnitude than the main shock which means they will not be felt, will not have sensitivity, will be felt only locally in the area of the epicenter.
In case we have shocks which will have comparable magnitude, then again we can have effects but given the fact that this is a major shock so far, we expect all aftershocks to have a greater intensity low in terms of sensitivity ”.
A magnitude 5.7 earthquake shook Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday evening and was felt almost all over Albania, but also in other Balkan countries.
