Saimir left, but he left his mark behind!
Saimir and I met many years ago. Initially, I as a prosecutor and he as a lawyer, faced each other in sensitive criminal cases, where each defended his own position. We continued like this until 2009, when I also joined the legal profession for a short period, before engaging in politics, where I am still today.
I have many memories from that time, but one of the most special remains Saimir's initiative to create the Association of Criminal Lawyers. With his persistence and passion, we started this journey together, which today has become a success story. The Association unites hundreds of criminal lawyers, has gained authority in legal thought and has built collaborations with homologous organizations inside and outside the country. It is a valuable legacy that Saimir left to the Albanian legal profession.
Beyond his professional background, I will remember Saimir as a friend and colleague who never let you down when he believed you were right. He was a man of his word, direct, persistent, and with the courage to openly say what he thought, both in courtrooms and in public debates about justice and politics.
Saimir left too soon. It is difficult to accept the departure of a friend with whom you have shared so many years of acquaintance, experiences and joint efforts. But I remain with fond memories of him and respect for everything he managed to build with such passion.
Today I bid farewell with sorrow to my friend and comrade, believing that the mark he left will long remain in the memory of all who knew him.
Farewell, my good friend, lawyer Saimir Vishaj!
Rest in peace!
