Today it was 20 years since the historic victory of Albania against Greece on September 4, 2004 in a "Cemal Stafa" full of wonderful red and black fans.
The Reds won 2-1 with goals from Edvin Murat in the 2nd minute and Ardian Aliajt in the 11th minute.
That victory is remembered not only because we won a heated "derby" with our neighbors, but because Greece came to Tirana as European champions. That same night in Greece, Gramoz Palushaj, the boy from Kukës who was an immigrant in the neighboring country, was killed because he celebrated with the red and black flag.
Where are the heroes of that match today?
Albania still has a Strakosha in goal. It's not Foto, but the son, Thomas. Elvin Beqiri, the former right defender from Shkodra, now lives in Canada.
Lorik Cana has ended his football career as the record holder of appearances with the red and black jersey (93).
Besnik Hasi is the coach of Meshelen in Belgium. Adrian Aliaj lives in Croatia and is already an established football player manager.
Altin Lala lives in Germany and has opened several businesses, but he also deals with player management (he is Rashica's agent).
Ervin Skela lives in Germany, part of the Eintraht Frankfurt club, but now as a consultant and talent scout.
Edvin Murati lives in France, is part of the diplomatic corps in Paris and owns businesses, but also deals with player management together with his brother.
Klodian Duro lives in Tirana and has entered the coaching profession. He also tried an experience in Big Brother. Florian Myrtaj lives in Italy and is often a sports commentator.
Igli Tare , after a long experience as director of Lazio, has been separated from the active part of football for a year and is dedicating himself to his family and businesses in Albania and Italy.

The victory brought an extraordinary celebration in the streets of Tirana, where all Albanians came out to celebrate until the early hours of the morning, after the Albanian National Team won against the reigning champions of Europe.
Meanwhile, the return match in Greece was won by the hosts 2-0 in 2005 and it would be the last meeting that Albania and Greece have had, even for friendly meetings.
