Kosovo Albanian-born midfielder Granit Xhaka has been nominated for the prestigious Ballon d'Or award. A remarkable achievement for the footballer who had a fantastic season with Bayern Leverkusen.

This is the first time Xhaka has been part of the list of candidates for this important award in international football.

The Ballon d'Or award ceremony will be held on October 28 in Paris, where footballers will gather to honor the best of the year.

This year, several other players are also in the running for the award, including Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior, Manchester City's Rodri and Judd Bellingham, who have all been considered favourites to win the Ballon d'Or.
