Milan are looking for a new sporting director for next season and have drawn up a list of possible candidates, including Fabio Paratici and Igli Tare. The red and black team is coming off a European defeat that has affected all Italian teams in some way. After eliminating Bologna in the group stage, Serie A has also welcomed Atalanta, Milan and Juventus in the play-off stage, where it was in the game to qualify for the 1/8 finals.
After losing the first leg in Rotterdam to Feyenoord, Milan could only manage a draw in the return leg, thus saying goodbye to the competition and a significant financial gain that could have been made. In addition, several structural problems were highlighted, such as the lack of a sporting director.
Milan, the search for a new sporting director begins
In the months remaining until the end of the 2024/25 season, Milan must find a new sporting director who can help lay the foundations for the future. As expected, there are several names on Ibrahimovic's list, but some of them also have a significant past in Serie A, which could help significantly.
Currently, Milan's management structure consists of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is officially a senior advisor to RedBird, Giorgio Furlani in the role of delegated administrator and Geoffrey Moncada, who deals with scouting. What is missing - and what would probably be needed now - is a key figure as a sporting director. Thus, one of Ibrahimovic's main tasks in the coming months will be to find the right person to join the management.
According to what Italian media reports, the favorites are Fabio Paratici, former Juventus manager, and Andrea Berta, former Atlético Madrid manager.
However, in recent hours other alternatives are also being considered: one is François Modesto, former manager of Monza, while the other is Igli Tare, who became known as Lazio's sporting director in collaboration with Lotito. The search has just begun.
