The Argentinian journalist, Dominique Metzger, reported to the Qatari authorities that she had been the victim of a robbery while reporting live for TN on the World Cup.
She confessed on social networks what happened to her:
“Well, this is the experience of Qatar. I just had my wallet stolen while we were doing a live stream. I'm at the police station and they sent me here to make the report and they guarantee me that everything is under surveillance and that they will find the wallet that had the documents, the money, the cards...,” explained Dominique Metzger on the Argentinian channel TN.
"It was a theft, but not violent at all," the journalist emphasized.
"I didn't understand when I was being robbed. At one point we were dancing with some people and maybe it happened there. The residents of the area see us differently, they want to take advantage of us. I wanted to take out my wallet to buy some water and then I realized it was missing."
The most curious thing in Dominique Metzger's experience was when the police officers asked him what he wanted them to do with the thief when they caught him: "At one point they asked me, 'What do you want justice to do with this?' Because we will find it, there are cameras everywhere." I thought I had misunderstood the translation, but no, they insisted on asking me what sentence I wanted for the thief, if I wanted him to be sentenced to 5 years in prison, if he wanted to be deported... They insisted on asking me what sentence I wanted to give him thieves. But no, I said that I simply wanted my personal belongings back, I didn't want to put justice in the place of justice."
