A former teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo has gone viral after being spotted working on a construction site. Çendrim Kameraj was at Juventus and his time there coincided with that of the Portuguese star.
Kameraj, now 26, was a promising youth international for both Kosovo and Switzerland. And seven years ago he was training with the Italian giants alongside Ronaldo and Gianluigi Buffon. His career was cut short after he suffered three torn cruciate ligaments, which forced him to move to Kosovo. He most recently played for Kosovo Super League side KF Dukagjini.
The defender has now swapped the pitch for the construction site in search of a new career. Kameraj currently works for a recruitment agency for construction firms called ICM Bau AG. He often has to visit construction sites as part of his job, and a photo from one of the trips caught the attention of football fans.
"I am grateful for everything I have experienced in my career. It would be a shame to throw away all this knowledge and experience. I became a father, which changed my priorities in life. After two such injuries, I realized that I was no longer the same player," said Kameraj.
During his time at Juventus, he shared a famous photo of himself with Ronaldo, which has been viewed millions of times. He insisted that the former Manchester United star is "simple" despite his status in football.
He said: "With Cristiano, you can understand why he made it this far. His discipline and hard work set him apart from everyone else. He was always very simple and even joked with me. It impresses you when Ronaldo calls you by name."
