Cristiano Ronaldo flirted with the idea of a new start in Europe, but in the end said a big "YES" to his stay at Al Nasr.
And it seems he had every reason to do so by signing a new contract. Not only was he not asked to take a cut, but instead he continues to be the highest-paid athlete on the planet, confirming that for some, age simply adds value.
Breathtaking salary
According to French outlet RMC, Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to earn €200m a year for his playing duties alone, as he receives an additional €60m from the club for his commercial rights. This amounts to €16.7m a month and around €550,000 a day. He also received a €30m signing bonus.
A unique phenomenon in world sports
Ronaldo remains unmatched in the financial aspects of the sport.
No active athlete in the world comes close to his income. Lionel Messi, for example, has an annual income at Inter Miami that exceeds just 17.6 million euros, that is, slightly more than Ronaldo's monthly salary.
Even the highest-paid NBA players don't reach his level. Steph Curry, at around $140 million a year, is far behind the Portuguese, while Tyson Fury, at $130 million, doesn't threaten his financial supremacy.
Not only the GOAT, but also the king of cash
If the GOAT (greatest of all time) title is divisive, one thing is certain: in terms of contracts, Ronaldo is the absolute champion. And this deal with Al Nasr establishes him, not just as a football legend, but also as the most commercially and influential brand in global sports.
However, the matter does not end there.
Cristiano Ronaldo's new contract is even crazier.
Specifically, according to the Sun, CR7's signing provided him with the following earnings:
-15% of Al Nasr shares
-30 million euros signing bonus (45 if he stays until 2027)
-Bonus of 90,000 euros for each goal
-Bonus of 50,000 euros for each assist
-Bonus of 10 million euros for winning the championship
-Bonus of 6 million euros for winning the Golden Boot in the Saudi Professional League
-8 million euro bonus for winning the Asian Champions League
-Spending 5.5 million euros on his private jet
-16 staff members at the villa (including three drivers, four maids, two cooks, three gardeners and four security guards)
