The French proposal that would pave the way for the launch of the first intergovernmental conference for Tirana and Skopje goes to the North Macedonian Assembly for a vote today.
For its approval, a few votes are needed from the opposition, which has not changed its position and continues to state that it will not sacrifice language and identity in exchange for European integration.
To reduce tensions in the session, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will also be present.
Despite ongoing consultations and the conviction that this agreement does not violate the national identity from the ruling Social Democratic Party, VMRO DPMNE has no intention of issuing votes.
"The conclusions regarding this information would only make sense if the government accepts them and they are intended to correct and not accept the French proposal," said an exponent of the opposition.
