The EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, came to Albania today for an official visit. Together with Prime Minister Rama, they visited the "Bypass" of Vlora, a project financed by the European Union through a grant of 20 million euros.

The head of the government also stopped at the process of Albania's membership in the European Union, where he said that our country has completed all the tasks and that it is now awaiting the approval of the French proposal from the Macedonian side. He also thanked Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi for his support to Albania.

"We are back here together with the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy as well as the ARRSH team, together with the employees who continue to deal with details outside the road, further improvements of nature. After today it became possible for a valued friend other than the European Commissioner for Enlargement to come here, unable to be with us on the announced day of the opening of the Bypass, which is related to the necessity to free the flow of cars, especially in weekend.

Well, today is a very beautiful day here, it's always a pleasure to go up to enjoy this wonderful panorama of Vlora and the Bay of Vlora, but it's also a day that I'm sure the Commissioner will tell us something more about with what we expect and it is the formal beginning of negotiations for Albania's membership in the EU. I don't want to linger on this point, the things we have said currently are that the parliament of RMV is gathered in the hope of approving at the end of a highly politicized and unfair debate, what is called the last French proposal, while as far as Albania is concerned , Albania has nothing more to do than wait and possibly see the green light given an hour or so ago.

On the other hand, we will repeat that regardless of the formal aspect of the process, we will continue every day as if the negotiations had been opened since then when they should have been opened in the form and investments and financing guaranteed thanks to the economic plan of investments that was carried forward by the Commission of new under the special care of Varely and his colleagues and with the joint work with the Dutch government to ensure that we have concrete proposals at the summit regarding how the new European community can be translated into concrete complementary steps, steps that do not replace and change the process of taking full steps in the EU, but which accelerate the inclusion of Albania in the EU.
