"There is a needy smell here", Majko tells the story from his
Pandeli Majko

SP MP Pandeli Majko told a story from his childhood to draw parallels with the challenge facing the new justice system today.

Speaking from the floor of the Assembly, Majko went back to the time when his father had moved to Kučovo and told an episode with his cousins and his mother. The socialist deputy stated that the goal of the justice reform is to break the status quo of corruption and money laundering.

"In my childhood, when my father moved to Kučovo, we were regularly visited by my cousins. I was saddened by the dissatisfaction of visitors about the smell of gas in the city due to the oil wells. When one of my cousins told me that it smells bad here, I felt very bad, I ran to my mother and shouted with tears in my eyes how dare they insult us like that. Today this story reminds me of the familialism of justice with the status quo of corruption and money laundering. Its destruction has been the goal of the justice reform. We must separate justice reform from the influence of learning with the smell of crime. "There is a danger that the justice system will be killed by independence and the assistance provided by the West,"  he said.

Majko further said that the time has come for the shackles to rattle the doors of politics.

"The progress of the reform is not only about the people you imprison, but about those you give justice to. Today, the Albania of 2022 has collected enough problems. Currently, Justice, in addition to crime and corruption, has another opponent: populism and its undeclared goal of dismantling the rule of law. Populism knows how to use the truth to lie. The establishment of justice in Albania has faced the representatives of populist politics. Today, the institutions of justice need support as the administration of justice is the revolution of our time. If it doesn't happen, populism's rebellion will strike and the system will fall. I wish the right thing happens", said Majko.

According to him, "doing the right thing doesn't always make you feel good." Shackles must be rattled on the doors of politics and its links with organized crime. I hope that this period of the justice system will not bear the name of the Pipo cat".
