The current deputies, like the legislators of the previous legislature, have taken advantage of the privileges that come from the status of the deputy. 21 MPs have applied and benefited from about 300 euros per month reimbursement, with the claim that they live on rent in Tirana. They have presented to the Assembly from a lease contract as if they live in the claimed houses, although there are strong suspicions that the contracts may be fictitious. In a previous study by the Institute of Political Studies, it is stated that some MPs, even though they have 2-3 apartments in Tirana, are declared homeless in the capital, in order to benefit from payments from the state budget for accommodation and travel.

Meanwhile, from the documentation seen by "Alhbitarja" regarding the expenses for MPs, it appears that six MPs have often received public money to cover sleeping in hotels. They are Luan Baci, Ilir Topi, Lindita Metaliaj, Luciano Boçi, Ina Zhupa and Anila Denaj. We emphasize that these payments from the state budget are legal, as they are based on the law on the statute of the deputy. 

All MPs, in addition to the gross monthly salary of 156,770 ALL (net 116,378 ALL), benefit from 17,000 ALL as a fixed monthly payment to cover telephone expenses, 40,000 ALL for fuel, 40,000 to 70,000 ALL per diem for travel, 10,000 to 20,000 lek royalties for the meetings of the permanent parliamentary committees. Thus, in total, a deputy receives 2 thousand USD to 2 500 USD per month.
