The Constitutional Court has accepted the lawsuit against "Butrint".
The news was announced by the deputy of the Democratic Party, Ina Zhupa, through a post on social networks.
"The year starts well with good news for Butrint. The lawsuit is accepted by the Constitutional Court, which invites all parties to present arguments and evidence within January 27, 2023. After that, a public hearing will take place! The Constitutional Court will live up to its name and position! Butrint will win!" writes Zhupa.
It is about a lawsuit against the Butrint concession which was signed by 36 deputies. The lawsuit was filed in November 2022.
PD requests the Constitutional Court to repeal the law on the Butrint concession and the immediate suspension of this law, because according to them, it creates damages that would be irreparable if it were to wait until the moment of repeal.
According to DP, "with the Butrint concession, Article 3 of the Constitution has been violated, which states that the Albanian state is the guarantor of identity and cultural heritage. In the case of this concession, it is not the Albanian state, because the Albanian state has only 20%. Secondly, the Paris Convention, the cultural heritage convention, has been violated, because as you know, Butrint is not only Albanian property, but it is also a world property protected by UNESCO, which requires other cultural heritage sites to be managed and administered by the state".
