The outgoing president, Ilir Meta, has posted a photo on social networks on his last day in the office of the Presidency.

Meta posted a photo with his children and wrote that it was an honor and a privilege for him to serve as President of the Republic of Albania.

" It was an extraordinary honor and privilege to serve these five years as President of the Republic of Albania. I wish the best for our homeland and nation! Peace and prosperity for every Albanian family! May God bless Albania !" writes Meta in his post.

Today, Meta leaves his position as head of state, while the new President, Bajram Begaj, takes over. After an oath session in the Assembly, the ceremony will be moved to the headquarters of the Presidency on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard.
