Iliriana Kuçana: The time of the Qokas in the DP is over, citizens expect

Member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party, also a lecturer, Iliriana Kuçana, says that citizens today expect a serious opposition and a credible alternative.

She says the time for the taunts must end.

"Dear friends,

Today, the Democratic Party is facing a choice that goes beyond names. It is a choice for its political direction and for the future of Albania.

The leadership of the Democratic Party must be composed of people with political fiber, vision, independent thinking, unblackmailable and capable of withstanding pressure. If we aim to rebuild the state, we need state-builders and statesmen and women.

The Democratic Party has had in its leadership personalities such as Bujar Nishani, Tomorr Dosti, Gramoz Pashko, Azem Hajdari, Ridvan Bode, Arben Imami, Sokol Olldashi, Genc Ruli, Gjergj Lezhja and many others, figures who represented political thought, experience and deep knowledge of the state.

Today, the Democratic Party must rise to the heights required by the times. The members of the National Council have the responsibility to vote for people with integrity, character, backbone and vision for the future.

Citizens expect a serious opposition and a credible alternative. I want a Democratic Party with intellectuals, with resisters, with people who do not see politics as a personal chair, but as a mission to return Albania to the tracks of the rule of law, democracy and meritocracy.

The time for jokes is over.

"It's time to think about Albania," she writes.
