The General Secretary of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, has denounced the registration of Qerim Ismailaj in the elections under the SP logo for the municipality of Mallakastra.
In an appearance for the media, Bardhi said that the CEC violated the decriminalization law as it should not have registered the SP candidate in the election, who has been sentenced by GJKKO to 6 months in prison for falsifying documents.
Bardhi said that the CEC is in open violation of the law and that it has ignored the statements of international partners who request that previously convicted candidates not enter the elections.
Focusing on the details, Barthi said that according to the decriminalization law, a convicted person is prohibited from exercising public functions or running in elections, until the rehabilitation period.
According to him, immediately after the sentence by the GJKKO, Prime Minister Edi Rama should have dismissed him from office, but now he is throwing the accusations against the CEC, which he says should not have registered him in the May 14 electoral race.
Qerim Ismailaj was sentenced to three years in prison in Greece. Even though he denied it, the prosecution and the court proved that the DP's denunciation was true and that he was a former convict with three years in Greece and that he had been hiding from the authorities there.
In February, GJKKO found Edi Rama of Mallakastra, Qerim Ismailaj, guilty, sentencing him to 6 months for falsifying forms. Celibashi and the council of ministers should have ordered his immediate dismissal from office. This order from the constitution and the law was not undertaken by either Celibashi or the Council of Ministers.
With an unprecedented act, ignoring the calls of the USA for clean and unconvinced candidates and not with a precedent, they decided to re-candidate Isamailaj for the municipality of Mallakastra.
The CEC, in violation of the decriminalization law, has confirmed his candidacy. This court decision, which was also accepted by Ismailaj himself that he did not appeal, and according to the court has taken final form, prohibits him from running.
The ban period means that Ismailaj cannot hold office in any institution or candidate until the rehabilitation period that ends on March 29, 2025.
We have addressed the CEC, notifying it of the flagrant violation of the decriminalization law, ignoring the statements of partners, asking it to review and implement the decriminalization law. Within the day we file a complaint with the KAS ", said Bardhi.
