Watermelon producers in Lushnja came out today in a protest after saying for days that they cannot sell a single kilogram of watermelon.

The reason is that, according to them, the collectors have stopped collecting the goods with the aim of reducing the price.

In the village of Imshte, where more than 300 hectares have been cultivated, tons of watermelons are currently overripe and this was the reason that dozens of farmers protested as the remaining production stock leads them to bankruptcy.

Deputy Erjon Braçe, in support of the farmers, emphasized that this was a game of collectors to reduce the price and asks the Ministry of Agriculture to intervene.

" The problems are very big. The first and fundamental problem is what I said yesterday and which I continue to emphasize, we are in the middle of 10 days, when the game starts, say the collectors.

Don't stock up today, don't stock up tomorrow, go three days, go four days without stocking watermelons to get the price down.

And when they don't get any invoices and the government lies there, the fiscal bodies lie over there with invoices that are not made in the presence of these, but are made in their offices to justify the game, then the Ministry of Finance should be here ", declared Brace.

The farmers, for their part, say that with this situation they are on the verge of bankruptcy.

" The longing has remained. Let's take out half of the expenses. The merchandise is not being sold. Cause management by the government. Take my watermelon for 10 lek ", said the farmers.

This is not the first time that former Deputy Prime Minister Erion Braçe participates in a farmers' protest.

2 weeks ago he was also at the protest of the farmers of the village of Cermë e Poshtme in Lushnje, who have cultivated about 100 hectares of watermelons and opposed the low wholesale price.
