The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a meeting with the heads of the DP branches today.
Berisha said that "today two are the most fundamental issues of the DP for itself and Albania, the primaries and the protests".
"I am convinced that from morning to dinner, most of those you meet are asked where you have the protests, why there aren't any, why you postponed the protests, and they are very right. On the other hand, we come as a political force that has promised change and concretize in this period a big qualitative leap in change, is the implementation of primaries in the election of the first citizens and councilors, so that the commitment to our citizens and Albanians turn into reality, with all the difficulties, but with the deepest conviction that this is an extremely important development for today and the future of Albania", said Berisha.
"In this country, the vote was excluded from the parties and from society, therefore its return is crucial for our future and Albania's. For one thing, we feel relieved. From December until today, this party has voted more than ever and we have done very well and we will still not stop efforts to consolidate the free vote, as the expression of the will of our members and supporters".
He said that the DP primaries will start in Tirana, Durrës and Elbasan and then continue in other cities.
"The chairmanship has extensively discussed the regulation of the primaries. Now the main responsibility goes to the sections and this is the next development of the trust that we show for the heads of the sections, the secretaries. We must do everything for this process to be successful. I believe in your responsibility and commitment that you, together with the members of the presidencies, sections and group sections, will turn the primaries into a success story. A kind of agenda, calendar has been made, and it will be based on it. We will try to speed up Tirana, Durrës and Elbasan with the others, hand in hand", said Berisha.
