Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who is under investigation for the privatization of the "Partizani" complex, will appear before SPAK today. This was the decision of the Appeals Court of Kosovo (GJKKO) taken by special judge Engert Pëllumbi on Friday, which imposed an obligation to appear for the leader of the Democratic Party (DP).

Berisha will appear at the judicial police on the first and last Monday of every month.

Two prosecutors, Arben Kraja and Enkeleda Millonai, opposed the release of the democratic leader from solitary confinement at the Court of Appeal. SPAK requested the return of Berisha to house arrest, a measure from which he emerged on November 27, 2024 by decision of the GJKKO.

But today will be a busy day for Sali Berisha. In parallel with his appearance at SPAK, the DP leader will await the important decision, that of the fate of the "Partizani" file itself, whether or not it will be subjected to trial.

The decision will be made by Judge Flojera Davidhi, who released the DP leader from house arrest after 333 days.

Meanwhile, the DP has called on its supporters to protest in front of SPAK when Berisha will appear before the Judicial Police officers. The DP, as the organizer of the protest, accuses the Special Prosecution Office of persecuting the opposition leader.

As a high-ranking state official suspected of corruption, Berisha has been indicted along with his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi. The latter is also accused of money laundering.

Also suspected is the builder, Fatmir Bektashi, who carried out the works for the 17 towers in the former Partizani sports complex, and the notary, Andia Pustina.
