"The one who touches the PD flag has made calculations very, very badly, you will see in the coming days." This was the strong warning of the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha yesterday evening after the statement of the Alibeaj group that they will enter with their own candidates in the local elections, but also a warning that came on the eve of the court session for the party seal.
The Court of Appeal in Tirana will hold tomorrow the session where it will consider the appeal of the PD of Alibeaj against the decision taken by the court on March 18, 2022, when it registered the statutory changes of the DP Assembly of July 17, 2021.
In its statement, the DP led by Enkelejd Alibeaj stated that the Court should have considered the other request of the Democratic Party, for the registration of changes in the Statute of the Assembly of December 18. One of the important decisions of the Assembly of December 18, was the exclusion from the party of persons who are "non grata" from the USA, directly targeting Sali Berisha.
In the event that the court will accept the DP's appeal to attach the two requests for statutory changes, then the Assembly of December 11, 2021, of Sali Berisha, will be 'undone'. The statutory changes of Sali Berisha's Assembly were registered by judge Agron Zhukri, who on March 25 transferred to PD Berisha.
Judge Blerina Muça accepted on March 18, 2022 the request made by Gazmend Bardhi for the recognition of the changes in the PD statute approved on July 17, 2021, a decision which was then appealed by Bardhi himself who requested the attachment of the changes decided by the Assembly of called by Lulzim Basha on December 18.
Also in the Court is Enkelejd Alibeaj's appeal against Zhukri's decision to register Berisha's charter. For this reason, the Court previously clarified that any reflection in the register of political parties in the Court of Tirana will await the clarification of the case on appeal, which would be a final decision that will decide the fate of the Democratic Party.
The decision of the Court will come at a time when the two parties of the DP did not find a common language to enter with common candidates in the local elections on May 14 of the coming year. It is not known whether a decision in favor of Alibeaj will divide the DP even more.
