"Bindja Demokratike" will appear alone in the local elections on May 14, but the aim is not to take over the leadership of a Mayor, but will "fight" for the Municipal Councils.
The head of this political force, Fabjan Topollaj, invited to Report TV, said that on May 14 they will call on their electorate to vote for the opposition candidates. In the conditions where the opposition has failed to come up with a common name, Topollaj emphasized that they will leave it up to the voters to choose which candidate they think is the best, from Sali Berisha's group or from Enkelejd Alibeaj.
"The Democratic Party will not produce a candidate for Mayor so that the idea that we are favoring Rama is not perceived. As for the Municipal Councils, this is the only way to have representation, there are no coalitions even in the local elections, that in itself is madness. We will release our list of councilors, while we will appeal to our voters to support the opposition candidate, we would like them to come out with a single candidate. The only one we have in hand, we tell you to vote for the best candidate of the opposition", said Topollaj.
Focusing on the most recent development, the failure to reach an agreement between the 2 parties in DP, Topollaj said that the best option is for them to finally separate and be profiled, as he is convinced that this "battle" is a war for personal interests.
"Separation is the best option, to be profiled! (...)Both parties are fighting for personal interests, we are not with any of them, our opponent is the government, therefore we will call for the opposition candidate" , he added.
This division, for Topollaj, this division will worsen the result of the opposition in the May 14 elections.
"The division of the Democratic Party will worsen its result, if the opposition entered after the division, the taste it had left in the public was still fresh. The result of the opposition as a whole is disappointing, weaker than on March 6", he said.
The only hope for the coordinator of 'Bindje' is the signal that Albanians can give to vote for new opposition alternatives, including small parties.
