"Repetition of the same mistakes", this is how the DP deputy, Jorida Tabaku, considered the agreement signed between Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta, for the May 14 local elections.

During an interview for the show "Pa Censure" on RTSH, Tabaku said that the same agreements are constantly made, stressing that what PD needs is to expand the group of people it addresses.

According to the MP, the main priority of DP should be the unification beyond what the party has and beyond what the allies have.

"The recurring mistake that's being made now is focusing on repeating the same things, doing the same deals, not trying to broaden the group of people that we're reaching out to, the middle class, the non-party people, the people who want to listen to the alternative, the people who need arguments, the young people, who make the DP even more modern, more flexible. I have not seen this happen yet", said Tabaku among others.

-How much has the boycott of the last local elections penalized PD?

I think it was a very big cost for DP, it was a cost because we didn't have local representation in any of the cities. But it was an element that did not penalize the DP in the 2021 elections, because we managed to get 680 thousand votes, which was almost 30 thousand votes less than the government, that is, as the opposition, but from the point of view of local representation, it damaged the DP.

- How do you see the new cooperation agreement between the parties led by Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta? Does it serve the opposition's victory in the elections?

Duke qenë se kam qenë pjesë e opozitës për 8 vite, pa pozicione drejtuese, jam përpjekur ta shoh PD edhe ndoshta pak më ftohtë se ata që kanë qenë në pozicione drejtuese. Gjykoj që kemi bërë gjithmonë gabimin e përsëritjes së të njëjtit gabim. PD sot duhet të jetë ndryshe. PD duhet të jetë sot një forcë moderne, një forcë që jep argumente, që të përballet me ide. PD sot duhet të bënte opozitë duke ofruar alternativë dhe mendoj që prioriteti kryesor i PD duhet të ishte bashkimi përtej asaj që PD ka dhe përtej asaj që aleatët kanë. Me pak modesti, mund të marr shembullin e Tiranës. Mund të të them që kam qenë drejtuese e shtabit të Halim Kosovës në 2015, kam qenë pjesë e shtabit elektoral në 2011, pjesë e shtabit elektoral të Sokol Olldashit, kam qenë pjesë e komisioneve të numërimit dhe atyre zgjedhore. Nuk ka patur asnjë fushatë elektorale që të mos kem qenë e përfshirë në një pozicion apo në një tjetër. Të them me siguri absolute që edhe duke mobilizuar të gjithë potencialin opozitar, duhet patjetër që ne duhet t’u flasim më shumë qytetarëve, sesa militantëve të çdo force politike që sot është në opozitë.

-Cili është ky gabim i përsëritur që po bëhet tani?

Gabimi i përsëritur që po bëhet tani është fokusimi tek përsëritja e të njëjtave gjëra, duke bërë të njëjtat marrëveshje, duke mos u përpjekur për ta zgjeruar grupin e njerëzve që ne u drejtohemi, shtresës së mesme, njerëzve pa parti, njerëzve që duan të dëgjojnë alternativë, njerëzit të cilët kanë nevojë për argumente, të rinjtë, që e bëjnë PD edhe më moderne, më fleksibël. Nuk e kam parë këtë akoma të ndodhë.

-PD e drejtuar nga zoti Berisha ka nisur zyrtarisht procesin e primareve për zgjedhjen e kandidatëve për bashkitë. Do të merrni pjesë për të votuar njërin nga kandidatët?

I don't like DP discussion led by one or the other and I haven't talked about it in a year. I am in DP, I will always be in DP. I never believe that my party, PD, will take actions that divide and worsen the situation. I gave the example of Tirana to say that Halim Kosova was an exceptional candidate, because he attracted beyond the potential of the parties and beyond any political force in the opposition. We still couldn't make it.
