After presenting his credentials and holding a one-on-one meeting with President Bajram Begaj on Saturday, the new US Ambassador Eric Wendt officially took office with a traditional flag-raising ceremony at the US embassy in Tirana. After this ceremony, the former general, now ambassador as a representative of President Trump, will start the "American diplomatic engine" on Wednesday by meeting with the first official of the Rama 4 government.

Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu learns from diplomatic sources that on Wednesday morning at 11:30, Ambassador Eric Wendt will meet with Minister Ferit Hoxha at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

It is expected to be an introductory meeting with this ministry, with which Ambassador Eric Wendt will work closely over the next three years.

During his diplomatic mission, Ambassador Wendt has been committed to advancing the priorities of President Donald J. Trump's administration, including defense cooperation, economic growth, and the fight against transnational criminal groups.
